CD PROJEKT RED is not done with Night City. Cyberpunk 2077's Edgerunners 2 Update (version 2.5) rolls out today on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, following the Netflix premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The anime tie-in gets top billing, but the line that matters most sits halfway down the Steam patch notes: official mod support on consoles.

That is a big shift for a game approaching its sixth birthday. Mods have kept Cyberpunk alive on PC for years. Now PS5 and Xbox players get a slice of that scene too, and the update is free for every owner.

Mods on consoles, with a catch

The new Cross-Platform Mod Support runs through mod.io. Players browse and install a selection of community-made mods straight from the in-game menu on PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. CDPR calls it "a first step" and says more mods will arrive over time.

Think of it as a curated shelf rather than an open warehouse. You get what CDPR and mod.io allow, not the full buffet PC players already enjoy. Trophy hunters should also take note. Modded saves get a dedicated icon in the Load Game menu, and console players cannot earn achievements or trophies on them.

Two guns, one perk

The other headline is dual-wielding. A new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, backed by four supporting perks, lets V run two Power pistols or revolvers at once. Photo Mode adds poses to show it off, along with frames from the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game.

Hand cyberware gets cosmetics too. Five Glamdocs around the city, marked with a spray paint icon, sell skins with custom colors for Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System.

The Edgerunners content itself

The anime tie-in is lighter than the update's name suggests. A new side quest called Clampdown is set before the events of Edgerunners 2 and unlocks after The Heist plus two gigs for Wakako. It rewards a five-piece gear set based on the character King. A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, plays tracks from the series.

A second quest, Welcome to Paradise, sends V on a guided tour narrated by Richard Night once The Heist is done and Street Cred hits level 15. Twelve new Minor Arcana tarot cards extend the Fool on the Hill hunt. Five new outfit sets also land at clothing vendors across Night City, with one more coming later.

This is the same playbook CDPR ran in 2022, when Patch 1.6 dropped Edgerunners gear alongside the first season. The anime brings lapsed players back. The update gives them a reason to stay.

What PC players get on Steam

The PC build adds DLSS 4.5 support, including up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and the second-generation Transformer model. AMD users lose FSR 3 upscaling, though FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation stay. A new FSR Anti-Lag 2 toggle also joins the settings menu.

Owners of Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors get glasses-free 3D with a Motion Comfort setting. Ray tracing performance and HDR rendering both get tuning. Saves now group by playthrough, apartment and vehicle stashes finally get item filters, and a long-standing bug that could strand the Delamain cab mid-quest is fixed.

Consoles pick up an FOV slider. The Nintendo Switch 2 and Mac App Store versions will get the update a few days after the other platforms.
