Respawn Entertainment has announced the shutdown of Apex Legends Mobile, the mobile version of its popular battle royale game. The game will be discontinued on May 1st, and all purchases made within the game will not be refunded. The shutdown is a result of a “mutual decision” between Respawn and its development partner, Tencent’s Lightspeed & Quantum Studios. Despite the shutdown, EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson, has stated that the company plans to “reimagine a connected Apex mobile experience in the future” as mobile is expected to be a growth vector for the Apex franchise.
From 5:00 PM Philippine Time on Tuesday, in-game purchases with real money will no longer be available and the game will be removed from app stores. The game’s official shutdown is set for 7:00 AM Philippine on May 1st.
