The Overwatch team has released a blog post reflecting on Season 2 and previewing what's ahead for Season 3.
Ramattra launched to positive feedback on fun factor but was seen as non-viable, prompting buffs to his Nemesis Form armor, speed, and Void Barrier cooldown. He ended Season 2 as a strong Tank pick. In Season 3, his Annihilation ultimate gets a 20-second cap and a slower timer tick when enemies are in range — eliminating extreme uses while keeping it impactful.
The Battle for Olympus LTM debuted with some challenge difficulty issues, and the team plans to add a team deathmatch version and enable it in custom games for its next run. Winter Wonderland and Lunar New Year returned for new players, but veterans noted the lack of fresh rewards — the team is committing to new items for most big events starting Season 4.
Season 3 reintroduces Overwatch Credits: players earn up to 1,500 on the free Battle Pass track and 500 on premium. Nearly all pre-OW2 Epic and Legendary event skins are now permanently in the Hero Gallery at 1,500 Coins or Credits, making a free legendary skin earnable each season just by playing. Future seasons will also explore an "on fire" revamp and a hero-based progression system.
