Kingston Technology has outlined a summer travel lineup of four portable storage products designed for travelers and content creators who need to move, back up and store large files on the go. The range covers fast portable SSDs, a dual-connector drive and a memory card built for 4K shooting.

XS2000 External SSD

The XS2000 is the speed-focused option in the lineup. Using USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, it delivers read speeds up to 2,000MB/s and tops out at 2TB of storage in a compact form factor. An IP55 rating and removable rubber sleeve protect it against water spray and drops, making it the better choice for outdoor or beach use where the drive might take some abuse. Kingston puts the speed numbers in practical terms: up to 400 HD photos per second, or a full hour of 4K footage transferred in under 30 seconds.

Dual Portable SSD

The Dual Portable SSD addresses a specific problem: moving files between devices that use different port types without carrying adapters. The drive has both USB Type-A and USB Type-C connectors built in, switching between them without any cable. Speeds reach 1,050MB/s read and 950MB/s write via USB 3.2 Gen 2 in a compact metal housing with capacities up to 2TB.

XS1000 and Canvas Go! Plus SD

The XS1000 External SSD brings USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds up to 1,050MB/s in the most pocketable form factor in the lineup. It comes bundled with both USB-C and USB-A cables, covering laptops, tablets, smartphones, cameras and gaming devices without needing additional adapters. It suits travelers who want reliable fast storage without the added ruggedness of the XS2000.

For camera users, the Canvas Go! Plus SD card rounds out the lineup. With UHS-I U3 and Video Speed Class V30 ratings, it handles smooth 4K UHD recording and fast-action photography. Capacities run from 64GB up to 1TB, giving shooters on extended trips plenty of room without overbuying.

Picking the Right One

The XS2000 is the right call for anyone regularly working outdoors or transferring files in rough conditions. The Dual SSD makes more practical sense for creators moving between laptops and phones with different port types. Camera shooters who need reliable in-card recording speed should look at the Canvas Go! Plus, while the XS1000 covers most everyday travel use cases at a simpler level.

All four products are available through Kingston's regional distributors and partners. Pricing was not disclosed in the announcement.
