GIGABYTE Philippines is putting an AI agent, not the graphics card, at the front of its pitch for the new AORUS MASTER 16 GEN 2. The flagship gaming laptop lands on local shelves July 30, and its headline feature is GiMATE, an onboard assistant that writes code and generates images, running alongside an RTX 5090 GPU that used to be the entire story on a machine like this.

The line launches with two configurations. The top model pairs an AMD Ryzen 9 9955X3D processor with an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU (24GB GDDR7) and 32GB of DDR5 5600 memory across two sticks, plus a 1TB Gen4 SSD, for PHP 299,995. A step down, the RTX 5080 version keeps the same processor, memory and storage but swaps in a 16GB RTX 5080 Laptop GPU for PHP 224,995, a gap of PHP 75,000 between the two configurations. A third model built around an RTX 5070 Ti and a Ryzen 9 8940HX is coming, though GIGABYTE has not announced pricing or a launch date for it yet.

What GIGABYTE spends the most words on, though, is GiMATE. The assistant splits into two tools. GiMATE Creator runs generative image models in a local workflow instead of routing through a cloud service. GiMATE Coder handles natural-language code generation, correction and optimization, with autocomplete support built into Visual Studio Code. That is an unusual thing to lead with on a machine sold as a gaming laptop, and it signals where GIGABYTE thinks the buyer is headed: someone who wants a GPU that also pulls double duty as a local AI workstation, not just a frame-rate machine.

The hardware backs that framing up. GIGABYTE lists up to 1824 AI TOPS of GPU AI capability, and the laptop supports a MUX Switch for fast toggling between integrated and discrete graphics. Cooling comes from the WINDFORCE INFINITY EX system, which uses a vapor chamber and an integrated Frost Fan 2.0 to sustain up to 230W of system power without the fans drowning out sustained workloads.

The display leans creator-first too. It's a 16-inch, 16:10 OLED panel at 2.5K resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.2ms response time, covering 100% DCI-P3 with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. GIGABYTE backs it with Pantone Validated, TÜV Rheinland, VESA ClearMR 10000, VESA DisplayHDR 1000 and Dolby Vision certification, alongside Dolby Atmos audio through four dual-force speakers with a Smart Amplifier. The chassis itself is 19mm thick, finished in AORUS's 5-degree Black with RGB lighting, and the laptop picked up a COMPUTEX 2026 Best Choice Award.

At PHP 299,995 for the top configuration, the AORUS MASTER 16 GEN 2 is priced well past most gaming laptops sold locally. Whether that price holds up depends less on how it plays games and more on whether buyers actually want a gaming chassis doing AI creation and coding work on the side, the thing GIGABYTE is betting they do.
