GIGABYTE just gave power supplies an identity crisis. The AORUS P1600W, officially launched August 5 after its debut at COMPUTEX 2026, is on paper a straightforward 1600W 80 PLUS Titanium unit. But GIGABYTE isn't selling it as just a PSU. It's part of the company's AI TOP ecosystem, complete with a companion utility that tracks power draw during local AI workloads.
That's a new pitch for a component that used to be the most boring box in a build. GIGABYTE's argument is that if you're running large language models locally instead of renting cloud compute, your power supply matters to that workflow almost as much as your GPU does.
The specs still do the talking
Squeezing 1600W of Titanium-rated efficiency into a 160mm chassis is the more interesting engineering story here. GIGABYTE credits Gallium Nitride switching for the power density, paired with a digital power design and 100% Japanese capacitors for reliability under sustained load. The compact footprint matters more than it sounds. A shorter PSU fits standard ATX cases without eating into GPU or cooling clearance, which is normally the trade-off buyers make once they cross into four-digit wattage.
The connectivity backs up the AI framing. GIGABYTE built in two native 16-pin-to-16-pin PCIe cables and two dual-8-pin-to-16-pin cables, enough to run up to four PCIe Gen 5.1 graphics cards off one unit, splitting power as two cards at 600W each or four at 300W each. That's overkill for a single RTX build but exactly what a local multi-GPU inference rig needs.
Small touches, real function
The PSU includes an LCD Edge View display for live power monitoring, customizable through GIGABYTE Control Center with text, images, GIFs, or video. It pairs with a 140mm double ball bearing fan that runs an automatic dust-reversal cycle at startup or on demand. Neither is essential, but the dust reversal addresses a real long-term reliability issue for high-wattage PSUs that run for extended stretches without a case cleaning.
GIGABYTE hasn't published Philippine pricing or availability yet. Given the AORUS P1600W's audience of serious PC builders and local AI hobbyists running multi-GPU rigs, expect it to land through GIGABYTE's usual regional distributors once it clears more markets.
