Curse of Ula'tek is technically Midnight's first major content update, but Blizzard structured it as two separate releases wearing one name. The zone opens now. The raid that actually tests whether the expansion's endgame works doesn't arrive until a week later, on August 18, once Midnight Season 2 begins.

A new island to explore before the fight that matters

The Coiled Isle, off the coast of Zul'Aman, is now live with the three-boss Altar of Fangs dungeon, a new Vaults of Atal'Utek group activity, and Curse Surges that spawn rotating rare elites across five locations. Players get a full week to explore this content, gear up through Mythic 0 dungeons, and build reputation with a tortollan sea captain named Tokka before the real test shows up.

The Venomous Abyss is where Season 2 actually starts

When Midnight Season 2 begins on August 18, the eight-boss Venomous Abyss raid unlocks, culminating in a fight against Ula'tek herself, described as an ancient creature of hatred, corruption, and venom unleashed by the story's antagonist. That's also when Mythic+ Season 2 begins, PvP Season 2 opens, and Bountiful Delves become available. Splitting zone access from raid access by a full week is a deliberate pacing choice: it gives the playerbase time to gear up in dungeons and Delves before the raid tier that actually measures expansion health goes live.

The smaller changes that will matter more day to day

Buried under the raid and dungeon content are two quality-of-life additions worth flagging separately. Housing now supports full blueprint export and import, letting players share entire builds, interior or exterior, with anyone else running Midnight. And a new Discord integration links Battle.net accounts directly to Discord servers, letting guildmates message across both platforms without switching apps. Neither will make a trailer, but both will get used by more players on a given day than the raid will.

What to actually do this week

For most players, the sequencing here is the plan: spend the next seven days on the Coiled Isle's dungeons, Delves, and rare elite hunts, then show up geared when the Venomous Abyss and the rest of Season 2 open on August 18. Rushing straight to raid content before then simply isn't an option, since Blizzard hasn't turned it on yet.
