Com2uS has announced a crossover between Summoners War and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, with the collaboration going live on June 29 PDT. A teaser video is already out ahead of the update.
Frieren is a solid pick for a collab partner. The manga has cleared 35 million copies in cumulative circulation, and the anime adaptation has been one of the more acclaimed fantasy series of the past few years — it took the top slot at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards and pulled strong streaming numbers globally. A third season has already been confirmed for October 2027, so the IP is very much still active.
About the Crossover
The story follows Frieren, an elven mage who spent centuries adventuring alongside a hero's party before the journey ended. The manga and anime are less about the battle and more about what comes after — Frieren revisiting places and people across the long stretch of time she's outlived, which gives it a melancholy, reflective tone that stands apart from most fantasy shonen titles.
Com2uS hasn't released full details on which characters will be playable or what event mechanics will look like ahead of the June 29 launch, but teaser visuals are available. More assets and materials can be found on the official media drive linked in the announcement.
Why It Works
Summoners War has been running crossover events for years, and the format translates well when the source IP has a visually distinct roster. Frieren's party — Frieren herself, Fern, Stark, and Heiter — each have enough personality and design variety to work as summoned units. Whether the collaboration includes story content or just cosmetic/unit drops will determine how deep fans actually engage with it.
The collab goes live June 29 PDT. Check the official Summoners War channels for the full event breakdown when it drops.
