Escape from Violet Hold launched in July with its Rulebreakers already loose from Azeroth's maximum-security prison. The expansion's new Class Sets, out now, work backward from that jailbreak to tell how each of those criminals got caught in the first place, and the framing puts players in the position of playing out the crime rather than the capture.
Azeroth's Most Wanted adds four Class Sets, one each for Priest, Rogue, Warlock and Warrior, with 13 cards apiece for 52 new cards total. Each set centers on a specific inmate's backstory rather than a generic theme, which is a more specific structure than most Hearthstone content drops get.
Four Stories, Four Playstyles
The Rogue set introduces Mathias Shaw, leader of Stormwind's spy network SI:7, who infiltrated the Defias Brotherhood to bring Vanessa VanCleef to justice. Mechanically it leans into stealth and a new Disguised minion that can be played on either side of the board. The Warlock set flips that same energy toward the criminal side: Kazakus returns with his signature custom-card ability, this time using it to frame Aya Blackpaw and rig her trial, with cards that let players plant evidence and sneak informants into an opponent's deck.
Priest gets ghost hunter Raith Van Geist tracking Azalina Soulthief through a haunted Witchwood mansion, built around waves of Reborn and Deathrattle minions that keep coming back. Warrior follows Darius Crowley hiring pirates to lay siege to Shadowfang Keep and capture Lord Godfrey, with a deck full of pirate cannoneers.
The four sets can be bought individually or bundled, using either gold or real money depending on region. It's a smaller drop than the base expansion's 135 cards, but building four separate villain origin stories into a card game's live content cycle is an unusual amount of narrative work for what's ultimately a mid-expansion content update.
