Call of Duty is quietly closing a door on Season 05: this is the last stretch where players can access Endgame for free with a squad before the mode moves behind paid access. That detail is easy to miss inside a season this dense, Black Ops 7 and Warzone's Season 05 lands 24 July AEST with new maps, weapons and modes touching every corner of the current lineup.
The free-to-paid shift worth actually noting
Endgame going behind paid access after this season is a monetization change, not a content one, and it's the kind of shift that tends to matter more to a game's long-term player relationship than any single new map. Anyone curious about the mode has a limited window left to try it without paying.
Multiplayer and Zombies
Multiplayer adds a new map, Jubilee, set at a rural Japanese festival, plus two remastered maps from past Call of Duty games, Dig and Frequency. A mid-season update brings Turbo Tilt, a Nuketown-themed pinball map, and a new Freerun parkour map. Two new modes launch day one, Overdrive Domination and Gauntlet Rush, with Cranked Moshpit following mid-season, alongside a continuing Ranked Play season.
Zombies moves to the Eidskallen Lighthouse for a new Survival map condensed into a section of Totenreich. Kowakujō picks up Directed Mode and a Starting Room option, and three new Rogue Run playlists featuring Astra Malorum arrive across difficulty tiers. A mid-season round-based map closes out the Black Ops 7 Zombies story with a new Perk-a-Cola, a GobbleGum and two ultra-rare legacy weapons.
Warzone's new Verdansk corner
Drone Labs is the season's biggest Warzone addition, a new point of interest south of the Quarry with administrative offices, research buildings and a drone piloting course. Two limited-time modes ship alongside it, Lockdown Casual and the vehicular combat mode Heavy Metal Heroes. New gameplay features include a Juggernaut Public Event, shootable airborne Loot Drones and Buy Stations, a Hunter Killer Drones killstreak for both Resurgence and Battle Royale, and a new Resurgence Ranked Play season.
New weapons and the season pass
Season 05 adds four weapons: the FG42 Assault Rifle and dual-wield Gremlin SMG through the Battle Pass, and the Mammoth LMG and Mace melee weapon through events and weekly challenges. New attachments include the Jäger 45 Grid-Breaker Kit, the M34 Novaline Garand Conversion and the M15 Mod 0 .50 Cal Kit. The Battle Pass is led by Operator Spectre with new weapon blueprints, skins, calling cards, finishing moves and emotes, while BlackCell subscribers get the Cipher operator and a Mastercraft weapon blueprint. Endgame picks up a new timed Assignment, Burn Run, and new Ability Boosts before the mode's access model changes.
The season lands as Treyarch marks its 30th anniversary, with events tied to the milestone running alongside the new content.
