NullMeta, a four-panel comedy manga from Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara MAX, is getting a TV anime in 2027. On paper that sounds like a routine adaptation. The staff list says otherwise: the series will be the first TV anime directed by Kai Ikarashi, who is also the director of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
The official site is now up, carrying Aniplex branding, with a teaser visual, the main staff and the 2027 broadcast window. No month or network has been announced.
Slice-of-life, but not the usual kind
The manga by Kokamumo follows four high school students. Kurumi is an artificial human who is not especially bright, Chiaki is her guardian, Sakina is cool and goes at her own pace, and Shiyuki is described as the only sensible one of the group, with a question mark attached. The official site bills it as an "alternative" slice-of-life that spills well outside the genre's usual frame, and its own tagline calls the show the singularity of everyday anime.
The teaser visual leans into that. Kurumi stands with her arms up in a burst of shattered glass under the English line "Everyday singularity in high school."
A staff list with range
- Director: Kai Ikarashi, director of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, here directing a TV anime for the first time
- Series composition: Tatsuya Takahashi, known for The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls
- Character design: Shin Ogasawara, from the Pokémon Sword and Shield original anime Twilight Wings
- Animation production: Soigne, the studio behind mono and Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk
Pairing a director attached to a high-profile sci-fi action series with a gag comedy about an airheaded android is an unusual match, and that contrast is the main reason to keep this one on your 2027 radar.
