Hotel Barcelona is heading to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 as a complete package, and its first major expansion, Late Check-Out, landed on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 21. White Owls announced both on May 19, the latest sign that SWERY and SUDA51's troubled horror roguelite is firmly in recovery mode.

The DLC is not a side story. Late Check-Out is a direct continuation that piles new environments, bosses, enemies and narrative onto the experience rebuilt by the game's "Under New Management" update. It adds two new stages, Dusk Valley Golf Resort and the Former Grandall Estate, along with 2 new boss encounters, 17 new enemy types and fresh story content tuned for experienced players.

A full package on Switch

The bigger news for a lot of players is portability. The Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions arrive as a single bundle that includes the base game, the Under New Management overhaul, the Late Check-Out DLC and every update released to date, all for 34.99 US dollars. Published by Eden Industries, the Switch builds support online play for 1 to 3 players, 4-player invasion and PvP.

Bundling everything into one price is the right call. It sidesteps the confusion of asking new players to buy a base game, then a relaunch they missed, then an expansion. On Switch, Hotel Barcelona simply shows up as the complete, fixed version.

A second look that is sticking

For readers who do not know the game, Hotel Barcelona is a 2.5D action horror roguelite built on slasher films and surreal psychological horror. You play U.S. Marshal Justine Bernstein, whose mind is possessed by a serial killer called Dr. Carnival, and failed runs return as armed Slasher Phantoms that fight alongside you later. It comes from two of Japan's most distinctive creators: SWERY of Deadly Premonition fame and SUDA51 of No More Heroes and Killer7.

Since the March relaunch, Steam reviews have swung strongly positive, and Late Check-Out is the escalation meant to lock in that second look. Xbox players could grab the base game at 35 percent off through May 25.
