Com2uS Holdings has officially launched ARES: THE IRON VANGUARD worldwide, and the version players are getting is a different shape than the one that opened its early preview back in May. The game started life pitched as an MMORPG. The global release Com2uS shipped this week leads with single-player content instead.
Developed by Second Dive, ARES: THE IRON VANGUARD is a sci-fi action RPG set across a mechanical, space-spanning universe. In its global form, progression centers on single-player story content in the early stages, with character growth eventually unlocking cooperative PvE content like raids and seasonal endgame activities. That's a meaningful restructuring from a game that was originally built around persistent online systems, and it suggests Com2uS read the room on what global RPG audiences actually want to commit to on day one.
Suit Change Is Still the Hook
The system carried over from the preview is Suit Change, which lets players swap between two Suits in real time depending on the fight in front of them. Four classes are available at launch: Engineer, Warlord, Hunter, and Warlock, each built around a different combat approach rather than a fixed loadout.
ARES: THE IRON VANGUARD is live now across North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, with cross-play support between PC and mobile through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Com2uS is running special launch events tied to the release, with details posted through the game's official channels and Discord.
The pivot toward single-player-first design is worth watching. Com2uS built its early preview around traditional MMO framing, and quietly walking that back for the global version is a tacit admission that a crowded action RPG market rewards games players can finish on their own terms before it asks them to commit to a guild.
