ZENONIA 2 came out in 2009 as a mobile action RPG, back when the App Store was barely a year old and "mobile game" still meant something closer to a Game Boy title than the live-service apps that dominate phones now. Com2uS just opened a Steam store page for it under the title ZENONIA 2: The Lost Memories, and the detail worth noticing isn't the port itself. It's that the page went live with no release date.
The listing is wishlist-only for now, "coming soon" with nothing more specific attached. Com2uS is testing appetite before committing to a launch window, which is a reasonable way to gauge interest in a 17-year-old mobile game finding a PC audience, but it also means there's no date to hold the company to yet.
What the port actually is
ZENONIA 2 followed four heroes, Lu, Morpice, Ecne and Daza, through the Andra Empire in a story built around recovering the World Tree's Tear Crystals after a world-altering event. It was one of the earlier entries in a series that became one of the more recognizable mobile action RPG franchises of its era, running alongside contemporaries like Zenonia's own later sequels before mobile gaming shifted hard toward free-to-play and gacha systems.
A Steam port means more than a resolution bump. Controls built for a touchscreen and a small viewport have to get reworked for mouse, keyboard and controller input on a monitor, and the pacing of a game designed for short mobile sessions doesn't always hold up when played in longer sittings on PC. Com2uS hasn't detailed what changed beyond the platform move.
Part of a bigger mobile-to-PC pattern
ZENONIA 2 isn't the only old mobile RPG making this jump. Publishers have been mining their back catalogs for PC ports over the past few years, betting that nostalgia plus a proper PC control scheme can find an audience that never touched the original on a phone. For Com2uS specifically, it's also a low-cost way to keep the ZENONIA name active while its newer titles, including the recently updated action RPG ARES: The Iron Vanguard, carry the bulk of its current release calendar.
Whether ZENONIA 2 lands with players who remember the original, or with a new audience discovering the series for the first time, depends on how the port actually plays once Com2uS is ready to commit to a date. For now, wishlisting it is the only option.
