The lead of Boukensha License wo Hakudatsu sareta Ossan dakedo, Manamusume ga Dekita node Nonbiri Jinsei wo Ouka suru (roughly, "I'm a middle-aged guy who lost his adventurer's license, but I have a beloved daughter now, so I'm enjoying a laid-back life") isn't a young hero starting out. He's a veteran whose career is already over. The TV anime's official site confirmed on October 15 that the series airs from January 2027 and revealed its two leads, the core staff, a second teaser visual and a teaser trailer.

A former top mage, fired for getting old

The lead is Douglas. According to the official character page, he was once the strongest mage around, but age and a failing body got him kicked out of the hero's party, and he loses his adventurer's license on top of it. Drifting from place to place, he saves a girl named Rabi, who carries a curse and has no family. He decides to keep traveling with her.

From there, the site's synopsis describes a gentler kind of adventure story: tough quests, helping people in the towns they pass through and good meals, with the two growing closer like a real father and daughter. Rabi's past is still a mystery, and she looks up to Douglas like a father.

Cast and studio

  • Douglas: Hiroki Yasumoto
  • Rabi: Yuka Iguchi

studio Palette is animating the series, with SPACE SHOWER MUSIC on music production. The original illustrator, Fuzichoco, is credited for the character concepts, and one person handles direction, series composition and scripts together.

Yasumoto's comment on the site explains what sets it apart for him. He says stories about a man growing after hitting rock bottom are everywhere, but this one adds the bond with someone he met by chance and his struggle between giving up on people and refusing to. He also points out that it's simply soothing to watch. Iguchi calls the father-daughter exchanges heartwarming.

Where it comes from

The anime adapts a light novel published by SB Creative under its GA Novel label. The official site hasn't named broadcast stations or an exact premiere date yet, and there's no word so far on a streaming partner for the Philippines.
