AMD Expands Commercial Portfolio with Powerful Mobile and Desktop Processors for Business Users

Today, AMD unveiled its latest offerings, the Ryzen PRO 7040 Series Mobile processors, designed to bring cutting-edge x86 processors to premium Windows 11 business laptops and mobile workstations. These processors, featuring “Zen 4” architecture, AMD RDNA 3 integrated graphics, AMD PRO technologies, and Ryzen AI on select models, cater to the needs of the modern workforce. Additionally, AMD announced the Ryzen PRO 7000 Series processors for desktops, bringing the power of “Zen 4” and AMD RDNA 2 integrated graphics to professional desktop users.

Matthew Unangst, Senior Director of Commercial Client and Workstation at AMD, highlighted the importance of advanced technology infrastructure to handle AI workloads, stating that over half of IT managers surveyed lack such infrastructure. He emphasized that the Ryzen PRO 7040 Series processors deliver exceptional performance, battery life, and a dedicated AI engine on select models to address the demands of the AI transformation.

The Ryzen PRO 7040 Series Mobile processors, built on industry-leading 4nm technology, feature up to 8 “Zen 4” cores and RDNA 3 integrated graphics. These processors provide excellent performance and efficiency for business applications, with the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U processor offering a 17% increase in performance over the x86 competition. Select models of the Ryzen PRO 7040 Series processors incorporate Ryzen AI, the world’s first integrated AI engine on an x86 processor, enabling premium AI experiences and improved collaboration on platforms like Microsoft Teams.

Pavan Davuluri, Corporate VP at Microsoft Corp., praised the partnership between Microsoft and AMD, highlighting the integration of Ryzen AI in prominent Windows features like Windows Studio Effects. He expressed confidence that AI will revolutionize user experiences on Windows and lauded the introduction of Ryzen AI technology-enabled business laptops as a step toward unlocking a superior experience.

For desktop users, the Ryzen PRO 7000 Series processors offer up to 12 high-efficiency “Zen 4” cores with a boost frequency of up to 5.4 GHz, accompanied by RDNA 2 architecture-based integrated graphics. These processors provide leading performance for professional workloads, including a 48% increase in productivity and creation workloads compared to the competition. The processors, built on the AMD Socket AM5 platform, support the latest technologies such as DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 storage, and ultra-fast WiFi 6E, delivering increased responsiveness, speed, and efficiency. Equipped with enterprise-grade manageability and security features, the AMD Ryzen processors with PRO technologies ensure reliable performance, productivity, and collaboration.

The Ryzen PRO processors’ commercial systems will be available for purchase from top PC vendors, including HP and Lenovo, starting this month. Guayente Sanmartin, Global Head of Commercial Systems and Displays Solutions at HP Inc., emphasized the importance of empowering hybrid workers with devices that enable them to work from anywhere. HP’s collaboration with AMD provides outstanding performance and power efficiency, offering up to a 22% improvement in system performance. Tom Butler, Executive Director of Worldwide Commercial Portfolio and Product Management at Lenovo, echoed the sentiment, stating that the AMD Ryzen PRO 7040 Series processors will power their latest ThinkPad laptops, delivering exceptional computing experiences and next-gen features like Ryzen AI technology.
