PLDT and Smart Empower Young Innovators for Digital Inclusion in InnoGen 3.0

PLDT and its wireless unit, Smart Communications, Inc., successfully concluded the third season of their Innovation Generation (InnoGen) program, an innovation grant initiative supporting young Filipino changemakers dedicated to creating a better and smarter world for all.

During the InnoGen Demo Day, 18 teams of college and senior high school students showcased their technology-enabled solutions focused on building inclusive and purpose-driven solutions before a panel of judges, mentors, and peers.

“PLDT and Smart, along with our partners, commend the country’s young innovators for their passion and dedication in empowering communities, ensuring that no one is left behind,” said Cathy Yang, FVP and Head of Group Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart.

Roderick Santiago, PLDT and Smart Network Head, expressed his hope for these young innovators to bring their InnoGen experiences back to their communities as they continue to shape a more digital, inclusive, and sustainable world.

The participating schools were recognized for nurturing an environment that fosters youth-driven innovation and inclusive solutions for a sustainable future.

During the Demo Day, select teams received special awards such as Perfect Pitch, In the Biz, and the Real MVP, along with financial grants worth PHP10,000 to support their projects.

The 21-year-old Aina Therese Alzate from Bulacan State University, representing AgriTent, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and the support from her hardworking team and mentors.

James Lemuel Mallapre, a 22-year-old from Ateneo de Naga University and part of Team Hero, encouraged his peers to stay determined and persevere in their studies to accelerate their goals of becoming innovators.

InnoGen aligns with PLDT and Smart’s commitment to promote inclusive education, contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #4 Quality Education and #9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.

As these young innovators embark on their journey, their passion and purpose have set them on a path to create meaningful change in their communities and beyond. Their efforts highlight the transformative potential of digital inclusion and the power of youth-driven solutions to shape a better tomorrow.
