Canon Introduces New Mirrorless Cameras: EOS R8 and EOS R50

Canon announces latest offerings in the mirrorless camera market, the full-frame EOS R8 and the entry-level EOS R50. The EOS R8 is a compact and lightweight full-frame camera with a 24.2MP CMOS sensor and a range of features for photo and video creators, including uncropped 4K 60p 10-bit recording, Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with Ai Focus, and 40 fps stills shooting with an electronic shutter. The EOS R50, on the other hand, is designed for everyday photography and streaming, with an APS-C-format 24.2MP sensor, 4K video recording up to 30p, and a compact and intuitive body design.

The EOS R50 offers advanced features for streamers, including the ability to be used as a webcam, the ability to stream live video in full HD at 30 fps, and recording podcasts and vlogs for longer than 30 minutes. The camera also features a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor, DIGIC X Image Processor, and Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with 651 autofocus zones for capturing fast-moving subjects. The Advanced A+ Assist simplifies auto mode in challenging lighting conditions, and the Close-Up Demo Mode ensures that objects close to the lens, such as in unboxing videos or makeup tutorials, are in focus.

The EOS R8, on the other hand, is a full-frame upgrade for those already familiar with the Canon mirrorless ecosystem. It has a 24.2MP, full-frame CMOS sensor with the DIGIC X Image Processor, capable of producing high-quality images with a wide dynamic range. The camera also has Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with 1,053 autofocus zones and automatic subject detection and tracking. The EOS R8 is available as a webcam and for livestreaming and can record uncropped 4K at 60 fps oversampled from 6K and full HD at up to 180 fps.

Both the EOS R8 and EOS R50 come with a range of accessories, including lenses, lens hoods, and camera kits. The Canon R8 EOS and EOS R50 are available for purchase now through B&H.
