COMPUTEX 2019 | MSI: For Gamers and Creators Alike

June 1, 2019 0 By Ira James

One of the first areas we visited on Computex is the MSI booth as they have a lot of new PC hardware on display starting from the X570 motherboads, display monitors for both gamers and creators, PC cases, and more.

The MSI booth was one if not the most diverse of all the booths in the floor. Anyone could go into the booth and point at something and say “Hey I need that”. From creators to gamers, companies to high stress applicators, there are a huge amount of stuff for everyone in the MSI booth.

MSI Gaming

of course, MSI won’t be last on providing a platform to support and carry the 3rd Gen Ryzen. They already released a huge number of options to choose from. All different to suit it’s different application but all the awesome MSI quality.

The main goal of the MSI X570 series is to accommodate and fully utilize the PCIe Gen4 compatibility given that this is the highest tier AMD chipset ever created so far. With this in mind, MSI has focused in the highest quality components they can cram in their variety of motherboards.

MEG X570 Godlike – the one board to rule them all

Starting off with MEG X570 Godlike, we are glad to see that MSI is making this available as their highest tier AMD motherboard to this date. Overclocking will be a joy with it’s true 14-phase power delivery on the VCore featuring the Infineon TDA21472 MOSFETs and an IR35201 Digital PWM controller.

This board also features an LCD panel on the right side for customization which can be used to show details like CPU temp, clock speeds, or even a custom message or GIF.

As for storage, this board is equipped with a triple Lightning Gen4 M.2 with extended Frozr heatsink that allows for optimal cool and SSD speeds up to 64GB/s transfer.

For RGB effects, it is using the all new Mystic Light Infinity II that allows for a more flexible customization of RGB lighting that can utilize millions of colors from the RGB spectrum.

This motherboard is bundled with an Aquantia AQC107 10 GbE add-in card, and a Twin Frozr M.2 PCIe add-on card for an additional two PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 drives on top of the three M.2 slots that are already present on the board.

Interestingly, all of the boards with X570 chipset are actively cooled by a single fan but MSI is implementing their Frozr tech for optimized silence and cooling.

Next on the MSI Enthusiast Gaming is the X570 Ace featuring the black and gold accent to commemorate the color scheme for the AMD 50th Anniversary. Slightly toned down from the X570 Godlike, this one also features the Infinity mirror right above the VCore VRM’s with the beefy heatsinks.

Intersing features aside from the X570 chipset are two LAN ports: Realtek RTL8125AG 2.5 GbE LAN , and the other Intel 1 GbE option. The wireless AX/Bluetooth 5 module is an Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax for extra connectivity.

It also has the triple Gen4 M.2 slots with the Frozr heatsink with SSD speeds rated up to 64Gb/s.

Other motherboards include the MPG X570 Edge WiFi, X570 Gaming Plus, and X570 Gaming Carbon Pro. We don’t have much details about these motherboards yet as well but hopefully we can have them up for review as soon as the AMD Ryzen 3000 series launches.

MPG X570 Ege WiFi

The MPG X570 Edge has an extended heatsink design with Pre-installed I/O Shielding convenience for installation. For storage it will have 1x Lightning Gen4 M.2 with M.2 Shield Frozr that can provide up to 64Gb/s transfer speed with M.2 Shield Frozr to cool down M.2 devices and to prevent throttling.

MSI is stating that this motherboard will have an irregular PCB Design: Which means the motherboard has a cut out to make SATA and USB cable routing easier.

MPG X570 Gaming Plus

The MPG X570 GAMING PLUS is a motherboard built for gamers
who doesn’t care much about the bells and whistles so they can focus on the things that matter.

It also has the Extended Heatsink Design: MSI extended PWM and enhanced circuit design to ensure high-end processors can take advantage of as much power as it can deliver.

Just like the other boards, it will have the 1x Lightning Gen4 M.2 with M.2 Shield Frozr for additional storage.

MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WiFi

As seen in the previous models of the Gaming Pro Carbo, it’s design is mostly inspired by supercars and the MPG X570 GAMING PRO CARBON stays faithful to this aesthetic
It will also have the Frozr Heatsink Design 2x Lightning Gen4 M.2 with M.2 Shield Frozr: Twin Gen4 M.2 slots to provide up to 64Gb/s, but additionally, it will have Wi-Fi 6: offering up to 3x bandwidth and lower latency.

MSI Optix MPG341CQR Smart monitor

The Optix MPG341CQR – Wow that’s a mouthful
But, surprisingly it is part of the optix series – and this monitor might be the new generation of monitors coming to MSI.

This has a camera in front to do lots of stuff – including facial detection for personal profiles, lighting detection for auto calibration, and can be used for computer based applications as well.

The RGB below the monitor is not just for looks – it can detect ambient room temperature and also sync itself to other computer sensors.

Some technical specs would be this monitor has a 1440p resolution, 144hz, and has HDR 400 for better and immersive visuals.

One more thing to make us more excited, MSI isn’t planning on just keeping this type of setup to just this one specific monitor but they are planning to have all the these features on all of their monitors in the near future.

The MPG27CQR aims to deliver thin bezels perfect for multiple monitor setups and a sleeker looking base for setup purposes again focused in multiple screens.

MSI Prestige – for creators

Creators is one of the niches in the market that is slowly getting some love from the tech brands all around – MSI aims to develop a product line to fully cater to creatives providing systems that is conveniently created for creative work and portability.

MSI Prestige PS341WU

The MSI Prestige PS341WU monitor is one of the most interesting pieces we found in the creators area. The PS341WU is a 5k ultra-wide monitor that is optimized for designers, studios and content creators.

It is fine tuned to give the industry standard color accuracy available to creators. Being a 5K2K High resolution: With 34” 5K2K (5120 x 2160) Ultra-Wide resolution, with DCI-P3 98%, Certified HDR 600 and Nano-IPS technology, the Prestige PS341WU will be perfect for creators creators who are looking to work with a 4K full-size window and a enough extra workspace to preview their content simultaneously.

The PS341WU features MSI’s proprietary exclusive creator osd app that
provide the design widget to aid the creator in design conveniently sousers can switch the screen color setting in different situations to make the color better for their situation.

Prestige X570 Creation

The PRESTIGE X570 CREATION, is motherboard specifically built for creators. It offers Dual LAN with 10G SUPER LAN and Wi-Fi 6 for not only faster Internet, but also for higher speeds in the local network to utilized 10GbE network devices such as Storage Servers, etc.

Cubi Series

MSI is also coming out with their versions of mini-PC’s as there is a growing demand for really small form factor machines that can be used as office machines or embedded systems. They are also going to make the Cubi Series available in barebones so that users can configure them with whatever compatible hardware they want.

MSI Alchemy Gaming Case

The MEG Alchemy is a cool concept – and apparently, MSI just love starting their products as curved – much like their Optix monitors way back. It’s a cool concept – We’ve only seen this big of an open case at flat and not curved setups.

MSI Ambient Light

MSI takes its Mystic Light integration to a whole new level by partnering with NanoLeaf  in providing the next generation of game immersion – currently, the game in the booth that displays this is Division 2 but there’s a whole area that displays how immersive in itself the light application is.

MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Lightning Z

Their limited edition flagship GeForce RTX 2080 Ti also made an appearance in the booth and it is an impressive triple-slot GPU with a massive cooler and features the new implementation of RGB called Phantom of Lightning.

The GPU itself has a boost core clock of 1770mhz and will require three 8-pin PCIe power as it has a total of 19 power phases for maximum efficiency.
